Meet Kett, the driving force behind Just Auslan, alongside Janelle, who is celebrating third year of success.

 

Armed with a Diploma in Auslan and qualifications as an Individual Support worker, Kett offers more than just Auslan lessons—he’s a compassionate guide for families, children, and adults alike.

 

Renowned for his gentle soul and exceptional patience, Kett creates a welcoming and supportive learning environment where everyone feels comfortable. Kett’s passion extends beyond the classroom.

 

As a dedicated sports enthusiast, he’s represented Papua New Guinea’s U16 team in the Pacific Cup and proudly contributed to the Deaf Australia Rugby Union.

 

His love for adventure takes him off the beaten path. Most recently, he camped on K'gari (Fraser Island) with his trusty Land Rover Defender.

At home, Kett is a caring father, and his love for family reflects his deep commitment to bringing positivity and support into both his personal life and the broader Auslan community.

 

His journey is one of inclusivity, understanding, and connection, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to learn from him.​

Over the years, she has taught Auslan to countless people—so many that she has lost track. Janelle’s creative talents shine through in her engaging games and activities, especially her expertise in video editing.

As a qualified Auslan teacher with a Diploma in Auslan and Training and Education, Janelle is a passionate educator and a leader in Auslan translation and consultancy.

 

Her leadership is evident in how she designs impactful courses, creates dynamic content, and produces high-quality videos that resonate with learners.

Full of energy and enthusiasm, she thrives on entertaining and presenting to large audiences. As co-founder of Deaf Pub Brisbane with Shannon Kettleton, she drew inspiration from her time living in London on a working visa, where her passion for community building took root.

Janelle’s drive to provide opportunities is fueled by her belief in the power of possibility. Her people-first approach ensures that everyone feels welcomed and supported, regardless of their background or experience.
